1. Brain Health

Your brain controls everything you do, think and feel. It’s your bio-computer. When your brain is working properly, you thrive. When your brain isn’t working properly, every day becomes a struggle, even chaotic.

Addictions is recognized by the American Medical Association as a ‘chronic brain disease.’ Learning challenges are all brain related. Depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, self-harm, postpartum, suicide ideation—and so much more—are all brain-related issues. But none of these conditions are life sentences.

One of the greatest scientific findings of the past 15 years has been neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize itself, to change and adapt. With the right program, your brain can change and set you on the path to happiness and wellbeing.

2. Therapeutic Modalities

Our journey of self-discovery includes integrative and experiential therapeutic modalities. We believe there is power in doing rather than talking. In fact, neuro-science has shown the more you talk about a past negative trauma, the stronger you hard-wire the traumatic event in your neuro-connections. We want to undo your past traumas and create positive new neuro-connections. To do that, some of our experiential therapies include:

Sand Tray Therapy

This form of play therapy is a powerful therapeutic method that facilitates the psyche’s natural capacity for healing. It’s a deep journey to the sub-conscious brain, allowing you to gain a greater awareness of yourself.

Expressive Art

The process of creation is emphasized rather than the final product. Expressive therapy is predicated on the assumption that people can heal through use of imagination and the various forms of creative expression.

Wilderness Therapy

An immersion in the wilderness makes for an extraordinary setting to gain insight into your past, learn about yourself, and find hope and motivation for one’s future. This experiential learning process provides hands-on learning that benefits everyone.

Other modalities include tapping, reiki, and working with our Emotional Support Service dogs.

3. Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology is the scientific study of human flourishing, and an applied approach to optimal functioning. It has also been defined as the study of the strengths and virtues that enable individuals to thrive (Gable & Haidt, 2005, Sheldon & King, 2001).

Instead of focusing on your limitations or shortcomings, we use the principles of Positive Psychology to focus on your unique gifts and strengths. We utilize many different professional tools to assist you in uncovering what makes you great.

It has also been called The Science of Happiness.

4. Smart Recovery®

SMART Recovery® uses a scientific approach designed to restore healthy mental and physical balance to guide you toward self-empowerment and self-reliance.

It’s a proven, evidence-based technique program that harnesses tools such as motivational interviewing and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) to effectively address addictive behaviour and help people create a positive mindset and lifestyle.

5. Life Coaching

Coaching takes you from where you are now to where you want to be. It’s goal-oriented, solution-focused, and results and action-oriented.

Thomas Leonard, the Father of American Life Coaching at Coach University, has a definition for coaching: “Client and coach become a team, focusing on the client’s goals and needs and accomplishing more than the client would alone.”

We are certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and ascribe to the professional standards and principles of the ICF, the gold standard for coaches.

7. Nutrition

Have you ever thought about what your brain needs to perform optimally? We do. Eating real, living food that is dense in nutrition has a dramatic positive effect on how you feel and can help you overcome depression, anxiety, addictions and so much more.

The current North American diet and the government-sponsored food guides are making us fatter and sicker, at unparalleled rates. Food is either good for you or not. There is no grey area when it comes to your food and nutrition.

Emergo’s delicious paleo-ketogenic diet offers the very best in organic vegetables, fruits, grass-fed meats, wild fish, raw nuts and the best fats (think Brain Octane).

In addition to nourishing your cells with the very best living foods available, we also leverage bio-hacking food science from Dave Asprey (Bullet Proof).

We’re happy to work with clients who have special food/nutrition needs due to religious or medical reasons. We only ask that you are open to learning and that you choose what works for your brain and body.

8. Physiology

It’s critical you have time to heal your brain and body, so we start with and focus on physiological healing.

We unplug you from external stressors, allowing you to focus on the most important relationship you have, the relationship of ‘self.’ Self-healing includes:

Mindfulness meditation

The practice of mindfulness has been developed and employed by clinical psychology for decades to alleviate stress, reduce symptoms associated with conditions such as depression and anxiety, and to aid in the treatment of addictions.

9. Family Coaching

Family Coaching is omnipotent to creating lasting change. It’s important that family understand their role in a relationship and learn new strategies to create a different result. If we want something different, then we must do something different. But what? Family coaching will help in this deep exploration and personal journey.

Family coaching also includes education. Learning about brain health, nutrition, communication, woundology, the effects of neuro-toxins (alcohol, marijuana, etc.) and more is a critical step to moving forward.

Family coaching consists of:

  • One 60-minute private coaching call with family members and their private coach
  • Weekly family coaching call with the client and key family member(s) (spouse, or parents, etc.).
  • Various learning and education as deemed appropriate to best support and help the family.
10. After-Care Coaching

After-care coaching is available (additional coaching fee may apply) for clients to support and assist you with your transition home. What’s going well? What’s a challenges or struggle? Does your 30-day transition plan need to be tweaked or altered?

After-care coaching is one 1-hour private coaching call with your Emergo coach each week. The first call is scheduled for some time during the first 48 hours after your return home. This is available for as long as you’d like, but we recommend a minimum of six weeks of coaching. Plus, you’ll have access to your coach by email and/or text during the week.
